The Braille cause
The Kilimanjaro Blind Trust Africa (KBTA)is a charitable trust based in Nairobi, Kenya, that provides access to digital Braille literacy and skills to children and young adults with visual impairment. They have been working with these individuals in Africa for almost two decades and currently serve over 3,000 learners across 250 schools and colleges in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Malawi. They strongly believe that children and young adults with visual impairments can only achieve real social and economic inclusion by gaining access to quality education. By improving literacy and digital skills, they aim to help these individuals acquire the necessary education, knowledge and skills to attain higher job placements, higher levels of integration in society, and independent living.
Children and young adults who have visual impairments often face significant challenges in learning to read and write without the assistance of Braille devices, which can make it difficult for them to access quality education. We would like to extend a huge thank you in advance for your support in helping us bring digital literacy and skills to Africa's forgotten children and youth with visual impairments. Our mission is to ensure that every child and young adult with visual impairments has access to digital Braille technology, which is their equivalent of pen and paper, and to provide them with the support they need to receive a quality education. By doing so, we aim to change the paradigm for youth with visual impairments, enabling them to access quality education, graduate from higher education with a career path, and achieve better opportunities for employment and higher levels of social and economic inclusion. Your generosity will be a critical step towards helping us continue our journey to ensure that more of Africa's forgotten children and youth with visual impairments achieve their full potential and independence.
Your support is important to our work at Kilimanjaro Blind Trust. There are many ways you can contribute towards our causes, and every little bit that you commit goes a long way in helping us fulfill our mission.
